Zhongshan¡¯s folk customs, originally a
combination of Zhongyuan (Central China) Culture and the local culture,
gradually evolved into a unique traditional culture of Lingnan (South China)
style out of the historical influence of geography and national traditions.
Huangpu Piaose, evolving from a
kind of puppet show in the late 19th century and the early 20th century, is a
performance form with children dressing up as characters in the historical
stories and upheld by adults in street parades.
Changzhou Drunk Dragon Dancing is
a folk dancing in southern China and a unique local folk art of Zhongshan,
which combines Southern Fist, Drunk Fist as well as acrobatics.
Nature bestows beautiful
landscapes upon Zhongshan. The city was awarded the title of "China's
Excellent Tourism City" in 2000. In 2005, its tourism receipts totaled
6.55 billion yuan. |
